Paisa Region is a term that defines a Colombian local cultural and geographical area of the Republic of Colombia. This area is comprised mostly of the department of Antioquia, and the departments of Caldas, Risaralda and Quindio, which separated from its parent Antioquia historical issues, and which covers an area of approximately 77,485 km ² (6.78% approx.'s territory).
Paisa Region of Colombia's northern region includes the departments of Valle del Cauca and Tolima, Antioquia, where the Spanish accent is prominent as a result of the colonization of Western Antioquia Colombia.
The departments mentioned and a good part of Southwestern Antioquia, constitute the so-called Colombian coffee.
Colombian paisa region also includes a section of the northern department of Valle del Cauca and Tolima Northwest.
Among the major cities of the region paisa are the four departmental capitals: Medellín, Manizales, Pereira, Armenia and other major urban centers such as Carthage, and Rionegro among others.
